We will NOT have a “movie day” next week but will have a field trip on Thursday, August 1 to the River Legacy Living Science Center at 10 a.m. Little Allison’s mom works there and has set up this trip for us. And they are NOT going to charge us at all! I do need a headcount so please let me know if your child is going to be here next Thursday and/or if you are going to join us for the field trip. I believe we will return home for lunch since the weather is so hot now.
This week’s movie is Disneynature Oceans. (The movie is showing at Cinemark in Mansfield at a very early time.) So we are going to use the money to purchase the movie for our collection (it is cheaper to purchase it than for us to go) and set up the den like a movie theater and give them special boxes to hold their popcorn and make movie tickets for them. I know it isn’t as exciting as going to the movies but the time is so early that not everyone would be here and it is a long drive. I hope that everyone will understand our reasons for doing this. We will have movie day on Thursday, like originally planned (while Ms. Terri is at the dentist). We will do our water fun on Wednesday morning instead of the movie.
We will not be able to do that with the other Disneynature movie because it is not available on DVD, only Bluray for a much higher price. If anyone has that on DVD and would share that with us on our Jungle week that would be awesome!
Ms. Terri will be out of town from Sunday, July 28 through Wednesday afternoon, July 31. In order to make it easier on Mr. John I would ask that you have your checks for next week here for me THIS Friday, July 26 so I can sign and deposit them on Saturday. That way he will not have to leave the daycare home to make a deposit while I am gone but money will be in the bank to cover any bills or emergencies that may arise. We appreciate your help with that. If there is a problem and you cannot do that, just let me know.
This week our theme is Oceans of Fun. We are going to have a great time learning about life underwater and exploring the abundant variety of plants and animals in both freshwater and saltwater habitats around the world. We will be using Scholastic's Knowledge Quest unit: Underwater Life as our guide.
The Big Idea: Aquatic plants and animals live in oceans, lakes, and streams and make up a large part of the life on earth. Saltwater is mostly found in the oceans and freshwater is mostly found in the lakes and streams. Saltwater and freshwater plants and animals survive best in their own habitats. Aquatic animals can be classified as plant-eating, meat-eating, or plant-and-meat-eating and are an important part of food chains. Furthermore, they have different physical traits, and some animals, like frogs, experience metamorphosis. Finally, changing seasons affect underwater life cycles. When a habitat is drastically changed or destroyed if can hurt many plants and animals.
We have several spots open for teachers children. Teachers contracts run from August through the beginning of June. They are NOT required to pay during the summer months, Christmas break or spring break but are required to pay the full weeks the rest of the school year. They are required to pay the registration and supply fees upon registering their children. Weekly rate is $160/wk. Discount is given for second child. We are accepting children that are age 2 1/2 and up.
We are offering $100 off to any new parents who sign a full time contract in July or August. It will be taken off weekly fees in $25 increments AFTER the two week trial period. Our weekly rate is $160/wk. We have several openings at this time. Please call to set up an interview today!
We will be going to VBS at First Baptist Church Arlington from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday - Thursday. We will leave here around 8:40 so that we can get to the church with enough time to check all the kids in before going to our own classes. We will return here and have lunch shortly after 12.
Friday we will be going to AMC to see Despicable Me 2. Please send $8.
It will be a fun week but a busy one. Make sure your child gets to bed early each night so they are ready for a fun day at VBS!
Happy 4th of July! We are closed so we can spend time with our family. We hope that you will be able to spend time with your family, too.
We will be open on Friday.
We are having a fun 4th of July celebration. We are playing with the water slide and the water ball. We will have a picnic lunch with some KFC fried chicken!
We currently have openings in our preschool program. Our preschool program is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. If your work schedule is before/after those hours drop off can be earlier than that and pick up a little later than that. Those are just the hours we are officially doing "preschool". During the summer we have a special program with weekly themed units. After Labor Day weekend we start our preschool school year and it runs through the last week of May. We offer referral bonuses for anyone who shares our information and their name is given at the time of the interview. Check out our newsletter for our current referral bonus.
