Each child will be able to participate at his or her own level in all activities. We are able to make different activities age and ability appropriate for every child in our school. That is what makes us different than other schools. If your child doesn't fit the age level of the activity (younger or older) but shows that they are capable of doing it, we encourage them to do it. If they need something more difficult, we will do our best to make it more challenging for them. We use the same concept if it seems they need a less difficult activity. We will make it easier. Either way, we will include each child in the activities at THEIR level. Often, children will try harder to do things if their friends are doing it, even if it is at a harder level. We have seen that often in younger children.
Children 2 and older will learn to recognize their name in print and learn to write it themselves on their papers. We praise them at each stage of that process. Learning to hold a pencil correctly takes time and effort. The younger children will learn basic sight recognition while playing and as they get older we will gradually incorporate writing and coloring. As they get closer to age 2, things become much easier because they have gained the fine motor skills needed for coloring and writing. The older children, age 4 and up, will start reading lessons in January. Along with reading lessons, they will learn to write words and recognize them in sentences.
We are so excited for the new school year to begin. Thank you for choosing MTKCP!
